A key unifying theme underlying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is the idea of an intelligent agent able to reason, act, interact, and learn. This metaphor has stimulated much research in AI and particularly in Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), giving rise to research in agent-oriented software engineering, programming multi-agent systems, and declarative agent languages and technologies.

The EMAS workshop series has been held as part of AAMAS since 2013, and was previously affiliated to AAMAS through AOSE, ProMAS, and DALT since the first AAMAS in 2002.

EMAS 2021 will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners in the domains of agent-oriented software engineering, programming multi-agent systems, declarative agent languages and technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to present and discuss their research and emerging results in engineering MAS. The workshop aims to facilitate the cross-fertilisation of ideas and experiences in these fields to:

  • enhance our knowledge of the theory and practice of engineering intelligent agents and multi-agent systems, and advance the state of the art;
  • demonstrate how MAS methodologies, architectures, languages and tools can be used in the engineering of deployed large-scale and open MAS;
  • define new directions for engineering MAS by drawing on results and recommendations from related research areas; and
  • encourage PhD and Masters students to become involved in and contribute to the area.

 As AAMAS 2021 will be a virtual event, EMAS 2021 will adopt a virtual format a similar to that used for EMAS 2020

Dear attendee,

EMAS 2021 is approaching. It will be held online on May 3rd and May 4th, 2021.

Your slides, video presentations, and papers are already available online, both through the EMAS 2021 web site and through the underline.io platform (the platform chosen by AAMAS 2021 local organizers for the workshops), in the latter only slides and videos.

If you registered for the conference and/or workshop events (notice, you are still on time to register for attending EMAS 2021 for free, click here) you received an email with the information for logging on the system. In any case, just connect here and use your email (the one you registered) for asking a new password (I did so!). When you are in, select schedule on the left border and click on Workshop: EMAS - Engineering Multi-Agent Systems DAY 1 (on May 3rd) and EMAS - Engineering Multi-Agent Systems DAY 2 (on May 4th). There, you will find the program of the workshop for the selected day. On the top of the page, you will find the links for the EMAS 2021 web site and for the Live session through Zoom. There will be ONE LINK for all sessions of the same day. You will be able to access to Zoom sessions only by means of the underline.io platform (for security reasons, AAMAS 2021 local organizers have forbidden us to spread out the Zoom links).

Each session is around 40/50 minutes. Basically these are Q&A sessions. It is expected that attendees already watched the presentations of their interest. To "break the ice" the session chair will ask to summarize the contributions of your work at the beginning of the session, two/three minutes per each paper without slides (the session chair will show the title slide of your presentation). Then, a general Q&A session will follow for all papers in the same session (or something similar on the basis of the session chair's preference). Thus, it is required that at least one author will be connected to the live session). Important, the time table you find here is in BST. The general time table in the underline.io page for the AMAS workshops are in CET but in the page of the workshop inside underline.io are in BST.

We wait for you next week!

Best regards,

EMAS 2021 organizers
